I geniunely do not thing that iTunes can be conquered. It's been around for awhile. It consistently delivers good service. It has a fantastic library. It has decent prices. People love iPods. The services has dominated the market forever and gained so much popularity that I don't think anyone can top it.
Yeah but if you think about it, the MP3 market was decent before the iPod. The iPod just blew it up. They did not create the marketplace, they just expanded it significantly.
If Microsoft sells as mp3 instead of a limited use format like m4p that has to be cracked to be used elsewhere, it has a good chance. If the hardware is cheaper and better put together, it has a good chance. I desperately want a video iPod, but I'm holding out to see what Microsoft comes up with. Even if I don't want what they offer, the competition may drive Apple's prices down.

Those are all pretty big "if's," I think. Windows has been slacking over the years, and I doubt their ability to come back on top.
Yeah, and I think the high price could be a hindrance to their selling power. Why pay so much for a new device when you can pay the same price for something already proven to work well?
Looks like I'll end up getting a video iPod for Christmas. Almost everyone else in the house already has an iPod and an iTunes account and iPod related gadgets. Without an incentive to break the status quo, it'll be maintained.
