Default Bad advice on CNN?

I saw a little blurb on CNN headline news about lcds and plasmas, and they were telling people to only buy lcd if it is smaller than 42" and only plasma if they are 42" or bigger.

Personally I think this is horrible advice.

Sounds like a big generalization. I think people should turn to places like Consumer Reports for more educated info.

Yeah, it does seem like slightly dodgy info. People definitely need to look around before they make a choice like that, though.

I was just a bit-dumbfounded that they would give out such generalized and bad advice. I am still a bit stunned by it.

Certainly there is a lot more to go with that, and they could have said that, perhaps giving a few pros and cons of each. Of course maybe they were getting paid by a plasma tv maker.

Good point, Triumph. I wonder how much of the news in general is tainted by advertisers and their money?

This is in an older thread, but it would have been interesting to look on the CNN website to see if there were many comments made about their advice.
Sometimes, they can really get a come uppance with stuff like that.

I try to avoid CNN so I never even did go check and follow-up and see if anything more was said about it.

I'm not one of their fans either. I tend to have MSNBC on all day ...not that I listen to nor believe all they say either LOL.

I would agree with you on checking Consumer Reports to help make a decision before believing Cnn. They are also not one of my favorites. I would take this information with a grain of salt.

From all that I've read, experts say that LCD is best in the smaller screens, but to go Plasma when you get up above the 42" size. That's probably what they were referring to.
