I would rather spend my money on name brands. I feel if you are going to buy something as large as a tv and spend a large sum of money. I will just stick with a well known brand.

If it would have been any other devices like normal television, cameras, home theatre system naturally people goes for branded product. But in this case I have heard Plasma TV's are not doing too well. In that case if you go for a branded product you pay extra and the risk remains there. Do you remember how much the price difference will be?

It's better to buy branded appliances, rather than on no name brands just to make sure of the quality and the warranty given.

Wow, I did not realize that Plasma tv's were not doing so hot. I don't currantly have one and probably won't get one but I would have to say when buying a TV I tend to stick with the brands I know.

I would risk a no-name plasma IF I was able to test it extensively in the store first of all, and if the store had a good warranty and wouldn't just send you back to the manufacturer over everything.

Without that reasurrance, I wouldn't go anywhere near one.
