Default Cheap LCD

I had a TV in my house die.. so I wanted to replace it with something cheap but decent.. after searching I decided to go with a Spectre 32" LCD from Costcos, here is the link for it: http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...nav=&brows e=

It's my first LCD TV, and like I said, the key word in my search was "cheap" .. I want something that'll last perhaps 2-3 years because then i'm sure i'll be upgrading.

Another thing great about it, is the fact that I got it from Costcos, who allegedly has the most liberal return policy ever. (Go back in 2 years w/o a receipt and return the product if you want).

So, you think I wasted my $900, or do you think it'll work decently? It'll be here within the week so I'll post a followup.

Why did you want an LCD TV? Personally, I don't think they're worth it, but that's just me. I would be fine with a bigger plasma TV.

2 Years is quite generous, I know that I took advantage of their return policy for my PS2. I just needed something to do for 3 months at home, and then I returned it when I had to go back to college!

At the price point I was looking at, there were no Plasma's available.

Oh ok I see.

Well let us know how the LCD TV goes.

I've never watched a whole movie/show on it, just stared at it in the store, probably is a different experience.

eheh, don't worry there was a time when I didn't know either.

Basically, LCD TV's are much more expensive than the same sized Plasma TV's but the LCD's last longer and have a better picture.

Also plasmas are hotter(heat) than LCD's.

Well I got the TV on friday and I gotta say is WOW. I love it... My only complaint is that there isn't enough channels broadcasting in HD.. the picture quality is amazing.. I hooked it up to my 5.1 so I haven't tested the speakers that came with it (I dont have them attached)... I did try hooking it up to my laptop and that worked great too.

I haven't tried yet, but in their manul, they stated there is no support for universal remotes.. which kinda sucks.. but the only thing I'm really doing with that remote is turning it on.

Welcome to the US... lagging behind in technology, again... yeah, I had a friend who bought a set top HDTV decoder about 3 years ago, and there were VERY few channels back then.... there are still VERY few channels broadcasting in HDTV... hopefully soon... it's only been available in Japan for over 10 years..

Well, its hardly a waste if they have such a nice returns policy.

I'd give it a go for a few weeks, see if you like it - if not, save up enough that with the refund money you can get a better make, then take it back.
