Default Great site for universal remote

I love the idea, but I'm not too fond of the price.

Hope it helps with the Christmas shopping.

I gave up on universals a long time ago ....IF they work, they don't continue to work, and the ones that do work are so expensive that it's silly. I've gotten used to having about four of the things for four different pieces of equipment! LOL.

Wow that is a little to pricey for me. One thing I have found is to make sure you buy one where the little bulb at the end has a cover over it. I have found the cover helps to keep the bulb from breaking it's connection inside.

I just like that this one was able to download your electronics information from the web. Makes the programming so much easier! I guess for one with a lot of remote control electronice, it could be a good choice.

We actually own the Harmon Karden universal remote. My husband has to have the whole system - receiver, surround sound, big screen tv, and since we watch international programming, we have both cable with a DVR, and a satellite system. I have a LOT of boxes in my house. This remote is the coolest thing I have ever used. My husband set it up (it took a LONG time and isn't all that user friendly) and then I got to use it. You just press a button for what you want to do - watch cable, watch cable with surround, watch a dvd, watch the satellite with or without surround sound, etc. The remote turns on everything you need and sets it up for you. And if for some reason something doesn't turn on, there is a help button. The help asks you yes/no questions to find out what's wrong, then does things to fix it. It's expensive - but it's SO worth it. The universal we had before was a piece of junk, so I was skeptical, but I love this one.

I love the fact that it asks you questions. That is exactly the kind of remote I would need. I am forever hitting the wrong buttons and then getting the remote all screwed up.

Have any of you heard about this new iconRemote? x10iconremote.com

I've been looking for a new universal remote and thought this one looked pretty spiffy. It has an LCD screen with icons for your equipment and channels and it's suppose to be easy to set up so my wife and kids should be able to customize it as well. If anyone has one or knows anything about them (although it says 'coming soon' on the website) I would like to hear what you think. I looked through the website but I'm always a little leary about trusting what a bunch of salesmen say about it, especially electronics; I would like to hear it from someone else.

Thank you.

I checked on the iconremote (x10iconremote.com) this morning to see if I could get more information on it. Appearently its been released and is now for sale. I think I'm gonna pick one up and see if they are any good; they look pretty spiffy and easy to use so my father-in-law who is now living with us can operate the thing. Hopefully there will be no more phone calls at work asking me what channel CNN is on lol.

When I have a chance to use it I will post here again and let you guys know if it is any good.
