shri1313-- figured I'd just let you know that I recently was able to get my hands on an iconRemote. For your father-in-law, it's probably a good way to go. The setup is easy enough that he could do it himself, although I'd imagine you'll probably get it setup for him. But you don't need a computer or anything. And, it has big buttons that make the whole thing easy to use. The best part is that it's reasonably priced at 129.99. Definitely check it out man.

My iconRemote showed up a couple of weeks ago. It's performed flawlessly up to this point. I haven't had any experiences with X10 prior to purchasing the iconRemote, but if the iconRemote is any indicative of the quality of the rest of their products, then they may be hearing from me again. Great remote!

Universals have always worked for me. I haven't found myself having a problem with any universals thatI have ever had. I guess it all depends.
