Default Pioneer XVDV424

My previous midi stack was a Pioneer - beautiful piece of music equipment, and lasted over 10 years before I was forced to replace it.

Bought a Pioneer XV-DV424 DVD player with a great speaker set, thinking I was still buying quality, but got to admit, I'm disappointed.

We've frequently had issues with the discs jumping, even after 6 months of use - the impression given is that the laser system for reading DVD's is a relatively cheap and nasty thing.

The speaker systems are good, though - very powerful bass, but nowhere near as good on mid-rage frequencies as my old system.

Overall, I bought into Pioneer as a brand after good previous experience with it, but next time I'll do proper research and buy on product reputation, rather than brand.

2c.
