Hello all from Adam in NYC
Being in constant trouble (professionally, I am a EMT), you can never tell when you need a tiny portable tool for repair.
Here are my choices for personal pocket mini-tools.
Swiss-tech pliers and utilkey stealth tool:
The utilkey is on the ban list on the airlines, yet they are never confiscated. It looks like a key and it has quite a few uses. It is problably the only one you can use to fix eyeglasses. The pliers are a great surprise: they are strong and go the job well. I fixed many problems with this team. You can also get the pliers with a USB thumbdrive for dirtcheap.

Leatherman Micra:
I can never own one for long. These always get permanently borrowed by my friends and then they are adopted. Most everything is on this tool, including twisers (sic). I even had one confiscated by a guard (she thought it was dangerous, right).
On ebay, you will see these sold in lots, go get a few. They pay for themselves.

Gerber solstice:
This is a most excellent tool that built to last. It is only a scissors but has two can openers and both phillips and straight blade drivers. This is one of the few tools I have used in a medical emergency. The cutting surfaces are excellent.

Where to buy:
Go to eBay. The prices there are great. Get them in lots and sell off the excess. They make excellent gifts.
Have fun.
