I was wondering if anyone caught the show last night where they were raising money for children in Africa and the USA? I caught bits and pieces of it. Overall I think they put on a great show but haven't heard how much has been raised so far.

I caught the entire special. Near the end of the show they stated that they had raised upwards of 30 million dollars. Despite my admonitions about Idol as a whole (I've been forced to watch it for the last five years by my lovingly sadistic Wife) I think they are doing something extremely commendable by using the show's popularity to help those in need.

I agree, I don't care much for the show but it was good for them to finally take their popularity into consideration for something like that.

Wow that is quite a bit of money. I am glad to see that it was so successful. I am with you it was great to see a show that reaches so many people do something so good for others.
