Default What innovation entails

Every gain in the number of hi-tech gadgets that come out in the market is a loss in our environment. Agree or disagree?

It depends. The have cleaner burner car fuels that get greater fuel mileage. That's better for the environment.

I would also have to say both. I mean it would depend on the new gadget. Alot of companies are tending to try to go more enviromentally aware.

"Hi-tech" refers to something that is considered an advanced piece of technology. Innovations in this area are electronic by majority, and I fail to see how they can be a detriment to the environment; generally speaking, innovation usually breeds smaller, more efficient hardware, and these devices have less impact on the environment than the larger, more energy hungry devices of years past.

There is definitely arguments to be made about an abundance of technology in the home, and how that affects natural resource consumption, but even here we're talking more about increases in population being a factor and less about the amount of devices in the average household, which, again, have become more efficient with the advent of new technologies. Even transportation is becoming more and more efficient, and soon - within my lifetime, I hope - we're going to see new types of fuels that do not produce byproducts that are environmentally detrimental.

So, on the whole, I disagree.

Very true...I would worry about running out of resources, and also losing my job. I am one of those people who thinks that one day we'll all be obsolete!!

You both bring up very good points that I really never even thought of. Something to ponder on.

This is very true. If you are able to be innovative, you might become too valuable to promote.
