What I can see is that theatres really are starting to perish. This business only blooms everytime a really good movie is showing, which is rarely the case.

Movie theatres may not totally be gone, but there is a great possibility that most of them will be overtaken by other forms of media. Only a few theatres may survive and these are the ones that have established names.

I thinkt he tradition movie theater is a thing of the past. The same goes for the multiplexes. If there were a way to keep up with the quality of the experience and still make a profit, I think there may still be hope for movie theaters.

There were 2 big old theaters - great ones at that... These two seemingly antique theaters were closed a year or so ago. It was a real shame to seem the history disappear with little protest.

EDIT: I've posted other feelings on the subject in this thread.

I definitely don't go to that many movies anymore. As a kid, it was more of a weekly thing. We even went to a drive-in once, I wish I could remember what I saw.
We have one in Atlanta and I'm trying to get my date to take me sometime but we'll probably go next time they have a rockabilly bash or something. Really provides a good setting!

I love the movies but not al movies have to be seen on the big screen. I could go once a week or one a month depending on what's out there.

Most of the movies that do make a lot of money are movies that don't really appeal to me. I don't care to see Nick Cage as Ghost Rider. I would rather watch God Will Hunting, but that's not the type of movie that you need to see at a theater.

As home theaters become more and more advanced, I think that Movie Theaters will definitely lose business. They'll eventually be forced to work for the public's business.

I want to see a theater (even better, a drive in) that only shows B movies and cheesy horror films. I'm sure there's one somewhere, but not around here...

That would be a different kind of theatre. We don't have one like that here. Maybe there is a market for that instead?

I think there could be a great market in it. There's so many people who like that kind of stuff! I know I'm not alone!
It just depends on the location. Has to be the right one.

Most of the time I either wait for the movie to get to the dollar theater, or hit DVD.
