Default Telemarketing Rant

Sorry, but I am so tired of these guys calling. I have put my name on the do not call list and yet they still insist of calling me. I'm sorry but I am just tired of it and needed to vent a little. What do you guys do to get them to stop calling?

I know what you mean tater03, it's highly frustrating. I no longer get telemarketing calls but "survey" calls which I'm sure if I heard their whole speel would try to sell me something at the end. I usually tell them I'm moving to China - they usually don't have a comeback for that one and offer to take me off their list.

That's a good one. I went so far to say on the answering machine to please leave a message and if you are a telemarketer I don't want anything and don't need the service.

I can not stand telemarketers. They are a real pain. You tell them you are not interested one day, and they are calling back the next. There is just no nice way too tell them not to call.

Are you in the US, Tater03? If so, are you on the national do not call list? Go to donotcall.gov to add your information. Once you have been added, they say after 31 days you should not receive calls. If you still do, you can go file a complaint on the same website. You just have to have the date of the call and the name or phone number of the company that called. Just remember if you already have a business relationship with someone, like your credit card company, they can still call you, even if you are on this list, unless you add yourself to their own do not call list.

I'm on the do not call list, and decided to complain about one company. Trust me, it isn't worth the effort you have to go through. The worse company who still phones is some police benevolent society. Heck, you're afraid to be rude to them but I wish they'd stop it.

I think I understand how you must feel. But you can't just blame the telemarketers who are just doing their jobs. But it's good, though, that you're not that rude to them.

Have you tried saying 'Oh, I recently registered on the Do Not Call List, it appears that your records are out of date, please remove me from the list because it is illegal for you to keep calling me'.

I'm in the UK - I do that with our TPS (telephone preference service) list, and it does scare a lot of the callers off.

Speaking from experience on the other end of the phone, the Do Not Call list is undermined by list companies that tell you they have scrubed the list and haven't. I freelance and I turn away clients that don't give me verified scrubed list. The Do Not Call regulations make it hard for companies calling in large scale areas in that the list and updates become an expense. The real a*******es are the callers who just don't apologized and cross the names off that turn up. Another few years and they all will turn to phishing.
