Hoosierhunter, I am with you. I was helping my parents clean out their house, and they had boxes and boxes of vcr tapes. I told them I would convert them all to CD or DVD. Haha. I am idiot. I thought it would be easy, but I don't even know of an easy affordable way to do it. So the boxes sit there and I feel dumb for not letting them get rid of them.

DVD conversion isn't awful with a DVD burner running sonic and a ATI box for your laptop. It's time consuming though. I just have to dive in I guess.

It's almost easier just to weed out stuff and buy new ones. If there are collector type movies, then by all means copy them, but otherwise, dump the things!

My youngest daughter is in the other room at the moment, watching Teletubbies on VHS.

We've kept our kids videos, but anything worth watching on film we now have on DVD.

Yes we still have VHS tapes, and we still watch them. As a matter of fact we still buy them. We are from the older generation and just can not break old habits

I have quite a few of the kids cartoons on VHS that they still watch. I do also still pick some up at garage sales from time to time.

The great thing about VHS is that they are cheap! But I hate that they don't tend to last as well. We are slowing having to rebuy all of our children's tapes because the kids wear them out, but we are going with DVD this time.

i feel kinda sad that we have several VHS tapes which are probably moldy now with age. they're just stocked up in our cabinet taking up space.

TV networks still use VHS tapes. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's better to file old videos with those kinds of tapes.

I have boxes and boxes of VHS tapes. I've got shelve-loads of VHS movies. Some are home vids and others(most) are movies.

djree, I'm curious. Why do you believe VHS is a good or better format to save old videos?
