Wow... you wouldn't think you would do that well with them, but I guess there are always people who want things that are no longer available. It's called supply and demand!

I found two types of people bought them ...real collectors such as I had been and people who were looking to use them for guest rooms, rec rooms in churches, etc. I'd never thought of using them for that! LOL.

I guess that makes sense.... I had thought of the collectors- most people will pay a lot to get something you can't get any more. I do find it interesting that they wanted them for rec rooms, I would have never thought of that either. I don't know if I think it's smart though.... Since DVD technology is so much cheaper now, and DVDs are fairly cheap too, wouldn't it be better to invest in that? I wonder what the draw is?

Well, the quality was pretty good and if you were buying a player and say 100 good movies for a small amount, then it's sort of an instant collection.

Also, I had a few films that haven't been released on dvd yet so collectors snapped those up. That said, I know people who still collect VHS tapes which I wouldn't do, but I guess they have their reasons.

VHS tapes are still being used at different parts mainly for conversion purpose. I guess there will hardly be any normal user using them these days.

I also sold two laser disc players for $75 each!
Ah, well if I ever decide to go the selling route I might just try that... lol The lazer disc players went for $75?! Each or total?

Unfortunately for me, I don't think its a wise move in general. Not only are DVD technology and DVD prices cheaper, but they're also more effective. It would be better to invest in the new technology then to dive into the bulky world of lazer discs.

The draw? For me I think its the "antiquity"(ish) factor. Heck, my family still has a Commadore 64 packed away somewhere. Pointless, useless and collecting dust. Maybe its nostolgia? Or perhaps its just the pack rat in me. lol

I still have a VHS collection, though it's by default. And I'm also in the conversion process.

I find it interesting how we're embracing the better technology even though its still not the end all be all format. Oooh, format wars... blue ray vs HD. I digress.
