I usually rent the movies that me or my husband want to see. We end up watching a movie only once so it doesn't really make sense for me to buy them. Now a lot of the kids type movies we will buy because they well watch them over and over.

I love Blockbuster's reward program (we rent one new release and let the kids pick a favorite for free). And you can't beat the library price for rentals (although the overdue fees are extremely high). But Moviegallery gives a life time warranty on their previewed DVD's. If I'm going to buy, that's usually where I end up (and during the holidays they usually have great deals).

I have only bought a couple of DVDs. I usually rent them because once I watch them I really do not care too watch them a second time. It just seems like a waste of money for me to buy them.

Most of the DVD's that I have bought have cost me about what a rental would. I look for the big time bargins - and I usually only buy the kid friendly ones so that the kids can watch them over and over and over and over!

It's the kid friendly movies that I tend to buy. Or ones that I get for the price of a normal rental.

It amazes me that kids can sit and watch the same movie over and over (although I did wear out more than one copy of Grease and Dirty Dancing).

The movies that I buy are usually kid or atleast family friendly movies. Occasionally I'll get a previewed that we haven't seen for the price of a rental.

DVD's now have the built in games, so the kids find all kinds of ways to entertain themselves.

I ususally stick to the kid friendly movies - unless I find one of the previewed on sale for what I would normally pay to rent. It amazes me how often kids can watch the same thing over and over and over (although I did wear out a couple of copies of Grease, Centerstate, and Dirty Dancing myself).

I usually rent DVDs too. I only buy DVDs when there is a low offer at the market.

Movie Gallerey was running a special (4 for $20) on their pre-viewed. These are the best deals because the previewed DVDs carry a life time warranty.

i used to rent regularly but now i just do so when there are special promos which allow me to rent 4 movies for a special amount or something. it just saves me money plus that way i could assess if each movie is worth owning after. of course, there's also the power of leverage. i do save a lot from borrowing DVD'S and VCD's from friends and relatives. lol.
