I don't own a digital camera and I don't really understand why a lot of people prefer to use it than the one with the film. Does it actually have better picture quality? Is it really more practical to use?
Re: Do digital cameras have better picture quality?
Digital cameras can hold hundreds of pictures - thousands if you have one that can take a very large memory card. I think that is the biggest draw for most people - you don't need to carry tons of film around, you don't need to worry about the film gettigng damaged, and you can see your pictures instantly after you take them, so you know right away if the picture came out properly.
Digital cameras save you the heartache of getting home only to find out your finger was in front of the lense when you took a picture of that beautiful sunset on your once in a lifetime holiday.

Yes, I would agree with the above poster. The best thing to do is make sure you have a good sized memory card. That way you can hold more pictures. My first one wasn't very big and I found that a pain. But have since bought a bigger one.

Definitely the storage space and getting the quality at the same time...ease of sharing them with others on the internet, and that you can take photos discreetly without letting everyone know, HEY I GOT A CAMERA! Most of them fit right in your pocket, no lugging around camera bags.
