The pictures they were using in the article looked to be more like 10 x 13 or something big like that. It wasn't just a little pocket sized picture. I would think the way to know which picture you like best is to get a sample picture from the cameras you are looking to buy. Surely they would be able to do this with the money that you could potential drop on a digital camera.
If you go to Best Buy or some other electronics store, you can usually print out a picture - but a lot depends on the picture quality too. You are probably still better off doing the research and reading reviews.
My husband mentioned something that reminded me of a news story I read (or heard?) about the human eye. The megapixels max out because the human eye can only take in so much.
I have actually heard that too, Kelkat. It's the same way with color differentiation - we can see them, but a lot of times we can't necessarily tell all the different shades of a color.
It makes you wonder how the developers of all the technology really know that they are making something better. If the eye can't see a difference, then do they really know for sure?
I don't really enlarge my pictures all that much and really don't do anything special with them. I just usually take regular 4x6 pictures so it is good to know that the lower pixels are find for this type of picture taking.
I agree tater. It's nice to know before I spend the big money that I can get away with spending a whole lot less!
Anytime I can save money, I'm a happy camper.
I still plan to look at prints for myself. I was wondering if the printer the retailer uses will effect the product. If so, I guess I need to make sure the same printer is used for all the prints!
Yes, 4x6 size is also great for me also. I tried different sizes, most of them are higher than 4x6 catagory. It seems 4x6 is a standard size where you get a good quality picture.
I'm not suprised that people couldn't tell the difference on prints, but I'm prepared to bet that if they were looking at them on a monitor, the difference would have been huge.
