Default Do these TVs develop dead pixels over time ?

I upgraded from an old 27" CRT to a pretty decent 42" LCD type and haven't looked back. The old CRT had 7 years of everyday use and it's picture was certainly going south.
Yes, new LCD and Plasma screens do develop dead pixels. Check warrantee details as some manufacturers/retailers only replace if there are more than a minimum number of dead pixels.

They say that todays Plasma screens have a good lifecycle of about 5 years, whilst LCD have about 10 years. Am not sure if I believe that as I have seen Plasma screens of two years ago, which had permanent burns from having the same picture displayed (production facility) after 18 months of use.
