I bought a Pioneer mid stack system when I was 17, then added a 6-disc CD player to it when I was 18.
I can't remember the exact model, but it lasted right until last year - and I'm 34 this year.
It was a really great hi-fi system, and it had some great sophisticated graphic analyser displays.
Unfortunately, when I see midi-stacks nowadays they looks totally ridiculous - very industrial, and lights for lights sake - nothing really tasteful or sophisticated at all.
At present I don;t have a dedicated sound system, and will probably have to look at separates for a stack - but when I do, I'll definitely be looking at Pioneer again.
