A problem is solarisation - you end up with a sub-standard picture quality, with the colours bleeding into one another in a process called "solarisation".
Additionally, there can be problems with lypsync - or, put another way, the sound and image are out of sync, with audio delays especially common.
Overall, do your research first, otherwise you could end up with a very disappointing experience.
