Digital cameras can hold hundreds of pictures - thousands if you have one that can take a very large memory card. I think that is the biggest draw for most people - you don't need to carry tons of film around, you don't need to worry about the film gettigng damaged, and you can see your pictures instantly after you take them, so you know right away if the picture came out properly.

Digital cameras save you the heartache of getting home only to find out your finger was in front of the lense when you took a picture of that beautiful sunset on your once in a lifetime holiday.

I think thats why most people prefer them.
