Default Ricoh or Nikkon?

I've had several digital cameras - my first was a Canon, and I wasn't impressed with it. Since then I've had two Ricoh cameras - both very good, and a Nikkon, which had massive problems in anything other than 'normal' light - bright sunlight made the picture very washed out, and the flash settings weren't up to much for night photos.

I still have the first Ricoh I bought - an RDC 2. My Caplio G3 died recently, and since it isn't under warranty any more I'm considering a replacement.

I'm not sure if I should give Nikkon another chance, go for a Ricoh, or try another make entirely.

I'm after something that is flexible - good at taking photos indoors, through glass for exhibitions, and with a good zoom feature. I'd prefer something that saves the pictures fast too - I hate it when they sit there 'writing to card' for several seconds while you miss the moment
